Q: Morning lows

My blood sugar is low every morning to early afternoon, I then eat fruit in the late afternoon and it stabilizes. Can you eat fruit on an empty stomach in the morning with protein and be ok?

fruit has lots of sugar...
I read that you shouldn't eat fruit at all if you are hypoglycemic, at least until you stabilize and add it slowly, but I don't know. Dried fruit and fruit juice has even more sugar than fresh fruit. I've been reading labels a lot and it seems there are some orange juices with more sugar than soda!

Everyone has something different to say. This was from "Hypoglycemia: The classic healthcare handbook". I'd recommend it as A source but not THE definitive source, as with anything else out there on hypo. I've also read about a combining diet that is all about what foods you eat together. I don't know as much about that, but I think that you shouldn't have carbs and protein together. I'm a bit skeptical about that one, to be honest. I keep hardboiled eggs on hand to eat first thing if I feel too weak to make something. I also make a cereal from steel cut oats and 7 grain hot cereal that I prepare in a large batch, so again it is on hand first thing. I recently got the idea to pick up some organic baby food with the lowest sugar I could find in case of an emergency. I haven't had it yet though.

Fruit has a lot of sugar, even though it is natural, and might be too much for you, especially on an empty stomach. It would depend on the fruit though as some are more sugary than others. I'm just discovering the Glycemic Index which seems like once you get the hang of it, it would be helpful in determining what to eat and not to eat. I hope that helped.
