hi- i took the morning after pill and was fine with no side effects UNTIL i got my period. my period came one week after i took the pill and although there were no real physical side effects, emotionally i felt like a psycho. i've never experienced such desperate anxiety. is this normal?!? is it known what kind of effects the morning after pill or the excessive hormones has on the female emotionally?

You gave your body a huge dose of hormones. It's not uncommon to get moody or anxious after you take an emergency contraceptive. You're kinda going through PMS...times a million. Even if you've never had strong emotional reactions during PMS, it's not surprising you're experiencing it now.

If it is getting unbearable in every day life, I would contact the pharmacist. But, my response to you is...it's gonna be a little weird for a week or two. Physically, you may get side effects for up to a month or two (abnormal cycles and stuff like that). You'll live...and in my opinion, a small price to pay to be protected. Take a shower and just cry if you need to; sometimes, it makes things a whole lot better. Smile
