Hi my son is 17 months old and can only say momma and dadda but he doesnt really say it to us he'll just say momma like 30 times and start laughing. He jibber jabbers a lot but its all a bunch of noiuses and stuff. He understands a lot of simple directions but just can't talk at all still. Should I be worried? And what age do they start communicating with u better?

The link is for the American Speech Language Hearing Association. It will take you to a page with info for kids age 1-2. 17 month olds are at the stage of figuring out what sounds are made how to put them together and that sounds like what you are describing.

I wouldn't worry about his speech at this age. He's just learning about sounds. All of a sudden he will begin talking and never stop! LOL Just wait until he learns the word "why"... No worries
