Must Read
Is mononucleosis bacterial or viral? Does everyone get mono at some time? How does mono spread? Basic facts and definitions about "the kissing disease". ...
Do you know what causes mono? Although children are more at risk than adults, what can you do to avoid getting sick from mono? Review risk factors here....
The symptoms of mono may not manifest for everyone who contracts the Epstein-Barr virus. But when are symptoms serious? And when should you seek medical help?...
I was diagnosed with mono a month ago. My symptoms lasted for 10 days, I never had the swollen lymph nodes. I had sore throat, slight fever, sweating, vomit, diarreah, and weakness. After those 10 days I started to feel better for a weak. Then I relapse, I got mono symptoms again, vomit, tiredness, headache. It's been a weak now and I started to have joint pain, tingling in legs, back pain (on my lower back) , I feel weak when I walk and my joints hurt so much. Is it normal with mono to experience tingling and joint pain and stuffs like that? I am scared because when I google my symptoms MS or other horrible desease appear. How long it will take for it to go away? I feel so depressed. Please help!!!

your joint pain and tingling
Hey there, i've been having the same symptoms as you..i'm not sure whats happened, 2 months ago i was in perfect health. All of a sudden over the span of a couple of weeks, tingling in legs, then knee and elbow joint pains on and off, and then more constant tingling in legs. Doctor says i'm fine and blood work is normal, told me to 'wait it out'. I'm not sure what to do, its really getting me anxious and yes depressed as well, i just wish i would wake up and it would go away..let me know how you're doing now please? I will be going for more blood work again at the 10 week mark, its already been about 7-8 weeks..not sure how much longer this can last? and if its forever, i'm not sure how i'll deal with this.

2nd month of mono
Hello, the tingling is gone, I still have some joint pain (is less every day) but what I have and it is bothering me is weakness and heaviness in legs. I can only walk for a minute and can't be up for more than 5 minutes. This is horrible. The nausea and other symptoms are gone now. I just have the heaviness on legs and weakness and tired all time. I went to an infectious desease doctor and they did all blood work. The doctor will give me the result next Thursday. I was positive for Epstein Barr virus but she tested for all Deseases to discard. I am feeling anxious and nervous. I want all this to desapear. It's been two month now. Sad . Did you got diagnosed with mono? I am 26 female.

I didn't get diagnosd with mono. I had no other symptoms, just onset of joint pain in my elbows and knees but it all started with tingling in my legs, I still have all these symptoms right now. I'm 37 year old male, who has never been sick or in pain before, so I'm getting frustrated but am going to wait it out some more in case it is a post viral syndrome. Please update me on your infectious blood work results. I too wake up every morning hoping the pain and tingling will be gone but ts not. Hang in there and there and please update as you can.

I hate mono! The tingling is back and now I have extremely painful body ache, it's like a pressure pain , very difficult to describe. I got the results from my infectious desease doctor and all autoimmune Deseases are negative, HIV negative, everything is negative. Only positive is Epstein Barr AB ( IGG ) 3.83H . This is horrible because the nausea is back. I vomit the other day. Tingling is all over my body even my face. I have been having low blood pressure. I don't know if that causes tingling. Those are my only symptoms . Oh and leg weakness. Sad I feel so depressed because my wedding is on December 1st! I just want to die. I going to start anti depression medication because I am in deep depression and thanks to mono I developed an extreme anxiety and obsessing about Deseases. I never though that I will be like this in my life. I hope GOd will have mercy and help me. I don't want pain on my body. Well my psychiatrist told me to read a book called " the biology of belief" by Lipton. He said this book is good for hypochondriacs like me. Omg this is killing me. Well at least twitching is going away. How are you doing? Did you improve?

thanks for the update, i haven't improved but i can't say its getting worse, but still very bothersome and worrysome. I still have on and off tingling in my legs, sometimes is carries into my arms and hands as well, also, joint pain, it feels like pain inside the elbow or inside the knee, sometimes the wrists and lower back as well, also sometimes its feels like my muscles or tendons or pulling or somthing, its unlike anything i've felt before in my life, and now i'm on 8 weeks of this... i have some more blood tests to be taken at the end of the month to rule out some STD's just to be sure...let me ask you something, before this started, did you have or go through an extremely stressful or anxious time? Did you have an highly stressful emotional episode? i'm just wondering if that could have triggered something. I too am getting married in january and am starting to get very anxious about all this, luckily my partner is very supporting and is there for me through it thus far.. anyway, let me know.

Mmm lol I am getting married on December the 1st. Thanks to mono I developed anxiety because I am in constant fear and worry that I will get a terrible desease. And that I will not recover and I will be sick on my wedding day. I have been to neurologist etc. and a few days ago my neurology told me is all in my head. The mind play trick on us. I have generalized anxiety desorder. Google it and read the symptoms, it is tingling , twitching , etc. I am taking antidepressant medication, which I am on my second day and it helpe with the anxiety stuffs. I do have nausea and side effects of medication but the tingling is almost gone. I think it's all anxiety. We think oh I am not anxious. But our self inner conscious tell us we are and create all this weird symptoms. I still have some twitching but I think it's because my body was under so much stress with mono and anxiety. I hope it all goes away soon. I wish I never got sick with mono. I feel better today, I was able to go to Walmart and walk around. With mono I haven't been out of my house for month with fear that if I walk I will relapse. Oh well I hope this helps .

Asking for advice?
I have a 4 year old that has been recently diagnosed with mono. Over past 6 months my son has been getting fevers of unknown orgin. He has problems with ear infections (tubes twice), sinus infections (chronic runny nose for about 6 months, and frequent sore throats with exudate (which is the white spots on the tonsils) Saw ENT (ears nose and throat specialist who recommend surgery to remove his tonsils) His lymph-nodes are very swollen. He has had a fever for 7 days now and I am not sure If I should take him back in. He was diagnosed with sinus infection and completed his antibiotic. His runny nose never went away the entire time he was on the antibiotic and the reason I took him in was thinking he had another sinus infection but they diagnosed him with mono instead. Anyone else been through this before with there child? Not sure what to do anymore!

Hello, no I haven't as a child. I am 26 and I am still suffering with mono. It's been 6 month. I have my days and it's horrible!!!. My aunt told me my cousing had it when he was 2 years old and lasted for more than 6 months. And it took my cousing for more than a year to recover because when you have mono you have to sleep and rest. But kids don't sleep they play all day. Omg I can't imagine a children with mono. It's horrible I feel like I am dying here. I hope he recovers soon. Is he eating? Vitamins? Well take care?
