The symptoms of mono may not manifest for everyone who contracts the Epstein-Barr virus. But when are symptoms serious? And when should you seek medical help?...
Hello. I have had mono for the past 5 weeks, and I am slowly recovering. I had all the usual symptoms: sore throat, swollen lymph nodes, severe dizziness, fatigue and nausea, low grade fever. It took the doctors 3 weeks to diagnose me. I have a question regarding one other symptom. I know some people on the forum have developed anxiety as a result of the illness. I have noticed that since I got since I have become more anxious as usual. In particular, I am bothered about the fact that the first day I developed mono symptoms, I also got a frequent urge to urinate. And while 5 weeks later, I feel mostly tired and occasionally dizzy, the pressing urge to urinate frequently is not gone. I got tested for UTI; the test came back negative. Does anyone else have a similar problem as a result of mono? Do you think it''s related to the virus itself or to the anxiety that we have developed as a result of the virus? I have never had this problem before, nor did I ever have panic attacks before.

I have the same exact problem. I don't know if it's because of the stress on my kidneys or liver but I have to go about every hour and it's always a significant amount. I get my test results for the UTI test tomorrow morning and I'm sure they'll be negative as I have no other UTI symptoms. But yes, I have had mono 3 times now and this time frequent urination is a big pain in the butt. And DEFINATELY anxiety. They had to put me on some medication. When your body is in a constant fatigued state, you have less energy to spend on your emotinal health. Frequent crying is one of the other symptoms I'm experiencing. Feel better soon!
