My girlfriend has been diagonosed with mono, she claims she got it when she drunk from one of her friend's cup, and her had mono, just didn't know she did, until after one of them found out. I want to know if mono can be spread throught sex, because my girl friend says the doctor said it can only be spread through her siliva, but i am not to reassured, i want to know if it's likely before i trust her opinion. some one please assist me.

I am no doctor but my research indicates that mono is spread thru mucus in the nose and throat. So sharing cups, utensils, bottles, toothbrushes from an infected person may cause someone to contract the virus. Obviously, you can also get it from kissing. However, people live in the same house with someone with mono and never get it. The mono virus is not considered an STD.
