So, i was diagnosed with Mono last monday with a terrible sore throat, and fever, both of which have now gone away. My boyfriend was also very sick at the same time as me, and he went for a mono test which came back negative.
I have read that you are most contagious during the incubation period, 4-7 weeks before your symptoms, during which, my boyfriend and i were kissing, making out and sharing drinks non-stop! (Oops)

My question is: is my boyfriend has tested negative for mono at this point, is it likely that he has already had mono, and is not at risk of getting it again? It is a terrible infection, and i do not want to give it to him, but i also know that going 6 months with out kissing will be a disaster!

any help would be appreciated!

It is unlikely that he has already had it as one you have mono you will always carry the virus that caused it. The virus may become active from time to time without causing any symptoms. When the virus is active, it can be spread to others. Maybe he is just immune to it?? Also if he is a bit older than you - he may not get it because adults usually do not get mono, because they have immunity to the virus.
