Hi,

I have just had a mole removed by excursion. It was a 7mm mole that had changed from brown and round to red and un symetrical with a motled colour. The surgeon explained that she would remove the mole along with 2-3mm of skin around it.

Long story short, I have just taken the dressing off and the scar is about 2inch long with around 10 stitches......this means that she took off a hell of a lot more than 2-3mm of skin more like 10-15mm. I did ask her if she had taken much and she sheepishly said no - not took much.......

I am now a little anxious that this means that maybe the mole was malignant, with her taking such a large amount of skin??!

This means that you have a very wise doctor....They did the same thing with our son...She took it out wider as a safety precaution...Whatever she did was right...Take care....

Before they did the surgery they must of taken a biopsy. You should ask your doctor what was it. Was it melanoma? I had melanoma and that how they operated on me.
