"Mole" on hand

So I have this tiny little black dot on my hand and its quite strange looking and just randomly showed up in the last week or two. Though it is so small Im almost embarrassed to go get it checked out even. Its practically painless and pretty much round and flat and just feels like regular skin. Should I bother getting it checked out or just let it ride and see if it gets worse?
