i am 23 and i haven't had my period for about 2months. i have been late or skipped periods before but only when i was really sick. sometimes i feel a little sore or have sharp pains in the area where i think my ovaries are (left side right at the base of of my hip) but the pains are random and i have had them for years, especially when i sneeze really hard. what could be causing this? i don't take any birth control and i am not sexually active. is it normal to go two months with out a period for no reason?

Hormonal imbalances are usually responsible for amenorrhea. The cause for the imbalance can vary widely and may never be known. Stress, weight loss, weight gain, and endocrine conditions are a few examples of causes for homonal imbalances.

You may want to see your gynecologist to find out why you are experiencing amenorrhea. It can be treated.

The pain you are experiencing should be brought to the attention of your gyn. doctor as well. This warrants further investigation, especially when it is associated with amenorrhea.
