Missing period after stopping BCP's Posted: 04-12-08 20:02pm
Hello!
My husband and I have been TTC for almost
six months now. I went off the pill in
Setember of last year and have only had
one period since. I went to the doctor,
and she said to give it at least six
months for my body to regulate itself.
I'm almost at the six month mark, with no
changes. Is there anything I can do to
start my period, or do I have too keep
waiting? (Should I start taking my BBT to
see when I ovulate?)

Hi Hailey! Welcome to Ehealth. My name is
Christy I'm 21 and dh and I have been ttc
for 15 months now.
It can take a few months for your body to
regulate itself after stopping
birthcontrol. Were you regular before you
started birth control?
There are many herbs that women use to
regulate their periods. There is an herbal
tea called "fertilitea" that is a good
supplement. There are also many pills
available to help women regulate their
hormones.
I suggest temping. You probably are not
ovulating (hence why no period) but it
will be the only way to confirm if/when
you do. Plus it's a wonderful habit to get
into until for when your cycle levels out
some.
I also suggest starting a prenatal vitamin
now, if you haven't already.
Good luck, I hope you stick around, it's
normally more lively then this it just
tends to quiet down on the weekends.
Baby dust!

Thanks for the reply. I switched to a
pre-natal vitamin the day I finished my
last pack of pills in September. As for
being regular before, I was like
clock-work! I was very regular, but I was
also on the pill for a long time. I just
ordered my BBT thermometer today, so it
should be here in a week. Hopefully it
will provide me with some answers, as well
as info. for my doctor. I will have to
look into that fertilitea you suggested.
