Hi,
I've been on birth control for two years now, and I'm pretty good about taking it regularly, but recently I've found myself in something of a dilemma.
My prescription is going to run out in six days, but I couldn't get an appointment with my gynecologist until the 29th, which means I'll be going two weeks without being able to take any pills. I won't be having sex in that time period so I know pregnancy worries aren't going to be in issue, but I know that you aren't supposed to skip pills for medical reasons too. Am I going to be ok missing two weeks of pills or do I need to find a way to start a new prescription earlier?

The problem with skipping the pill means you have to start all over again and there will be a time period when the pill is not effective, just as if you had never taken the pill. Also, a delay can make your period irregular. If you start a new pack two weeks late, that may mess up your period because instead of taking the sugar pills in the fourth week of your cycle, you will be taking the sugar pills in the second week of your established cycle.
