Q: Missing a period and the possibility of pregnancy
asked by: DoctorQuestion on January 12th, 2009
My boyfriend and i had sexual intercourse on the 23rd december...the day after that i took morning after pills. then we had sexual intercourse on the 2nd of January, i took morning after pills again the day after. we have not had any sexual relations since. My question is, am i supposed to start my period after i take morning after pills? i have not started my cycle to this day. i took a pregnancy test on the 5th and it was negative. i took another one on the 9th and it is also negative. im not sure what to do. Could the morning after pills delay my period from starting?

Menstrual cycle: Irregular
Last menstrual period: 12/26/2008

Although your menstrual cycle is irregular, data about approximate length would have been helpful. The exact brand of the morning after pill would have been helpful, too because different emergency contraceptive pills have a different content of hormones.

The morning after pills do not usually delay the period. According to the data you provided, it is too soon for your period to start.

What you might want to do is to wait until the approximate start of your period, and if you miss it check up with gynecologist.
