my last period started on April fools day!! it lasted till the 5th, 6th day was the lightest day just barely there. well my partner and i are trying to get pregnant and my cycles have always been 28 days once in a great while add a day or take a day. well i was suppose to ovulate on the 18th and 19th. on the 21st through 23rd i had very very light bleeding. only when i wiped did i notice. well my period should have started on the 4th of this month but instead my breast started hurting. now a week later when i went to the bathroom i noticed very little pink blood. but it was pink mixed with milky fluid. i also have uncomfortable cramping. not to the point of it hurting though. let me mention during my ovulation and my light bleeding my boyfriend and i had sex on the 15th 18th 20th and 23rd. i took a test on the 4th and it came out negitive. i told myself i was not going to get my hopes up because we have been trying to concieve for a few months now! what do i do? am i?

Hi,

Welcome to the ehealthforum. I am glad to help you out. In view of the missed/light periods, pregnancy definitely needs to be ruled out. The urine pregnancy test is usually done around 7-10 days after the missed periods. However, the serum beta HCG test can be done which is a more sensitive test and for that you don’t need to wait. An ultrasound of the uterus will also facilitate the presence or absence of pregnancy.

If pregnancy is ruled out, then other causes of delayed periods needs to be looked into like hormonal imbalance, increased stress, eating disorder, increased smoking, alcohol or caffeine use and medical conditions like PCOS, fibroid, polyps and endometriosis.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
