Q: Missed period on 1st month of Yaz

I have a couple of questions but first let me tell you my situation.

This is my first month on Yaz. I started the pills about a week after I had finished my period although the packet says to start either on the first day or on that Sunday but my doctor said it was ok.

The doctor told me I could start having unprotected sex after 7 days of using the pills. I started about a week and a half into the pills (11 days after starting Yaz).

I have NOT missed ANY pills, but I have been late an hour or two about 2 times. Other than that I've taken the pills within 20 minutes of the same time every day.

Because I'm scared of weight gain, I started working out (I didn't before). I'm running 30-60 minutes and lifting weights 3-5 times a week. They say that physical activity may increase chances of missing a period BUT I don't feel like I'm exercising too much. My diet is the same (pesce vegetarian and health-conscious) but I eat at different every day, some days 3-4 meals, other days 1-2 meals. I have gotten really nauseous after eating since I started Yaz.

I'm on the white pills now. The first day of my white pill I had unprotected sex (idk if I was supposed to). Today is my third day of the white pill and I have not gotten my period but I have gotten light cramps.

I'm worried/stressed that I'm pregnant but ...

-Is there a possibility that I will skip my period this month since I started the pill after I had finished my period?

-If that's so, and I'm not pregnant, will I get my period next month?

-If I don't get my period this month, when would be appropriate to get tested for pregnancy? and are over the counter pregnancy tests legitimate?

You are protected during your placebo week (white pills) as long as you take the pills correctly during the month. The white pills are just reminder pills and don't have hormones in them.

I wouldn't get my period usually until tuesday or wednesday (3rd or 4th white pill) Its normal. Just wait until after this week, if you don't get your period or any spotting then take a test.

It sounds to me like you're fine. As Maddie said, you are protected during that last week of the month. Also, you took your pills a little later. This is not a problem at all, but it causes your body to be...a little weirded out. What I mean by that is, the natural cycle was thrown out (even if you had a 28 day cycle...these hormones are diff than what your body was expecting) and it will take a month or so to settle in.

When you dabble in hormones, nothing is perfect. You may not even get your period this month! But, you can always take a test to make sure.

thanks
I got my period today and it's the last day of my white pills. I feel so relieved. I was extremely nervous because I'm new to this form of birth control. Thanks for the replies!

haha I'm on yaz and have been on for about a year now...i got worried during my second month as well bc I had no idea when my period was supposed to come and I was already on the 2nd placebo pill...my period always comes on the last white pill of the pack as it seems yours does..its been that way for months now...and yes you are protected during the placebo week!

johanna101, if you miss a white pill its okay. if you read the packet it says its not a big deal. my mom told me she just throws her white pills away because theyre just sugar pills. it is not crucial if you miss a white pill its only there to remember to start your next packet. youre safe dont worry!
