Birth control is helpful in preventing pregnancy. Need to know more about birth control? Start here to learn more about popular methods of birth control....
You have many birth control options. Each works differently. What are the choices and what should you consider in order to help you make your decision? ...
Each method of birth control comes with risks to your health. What are the general problems you could encounter?...
I have been taking Seasonique for 2+ years now. Today is seven days that I am now late on my period. In all of the years of taking birth control (13 years), I have never missed a period. I took two home pregnancy tests a day apart, and they were both negative. I called my GYN and spoke with the nurse. She told me it was common to not have a period at all on Seasonique, so I shouldn't worry. I just don't feel right about that answer. Why, after all of the years of taking this medication and having regularly scheduled periods, would I all of a sudden just not have one? I have decided to stop taking my pills for a month and see if I get a period. I am not so much worried about being pregnant, but my mom had ovarian cancer at 43, and I am nervous something might be wrong. Has this ever happened to anyone?

I am having the same problem. I have been taking seasonique for 2 years and never missed a period. This time I took the new Loseasonique and missed an entire period. I also took a pregnancy test which came back negative. I am wondering, too, what this is all about, and I am also not finding any answers. Best of luck!

ok. thank you... so I shouldn't freak out!! Guess I will give it a few days... So like 5 days into it? I just took the 3rd yellow pill today. (I didn't Sunday start)
Could the estrogen in the yellow ones be keeping me from starting? Are they too strong?

missed cycle
I just started on this pill brand (first 3 months). I am expecting my first cycle. I have today and tomorrow of the yellow pill left. We don't use any alternative protections...so I am worried I might be pregnant. I read above that someone got their cycle the week after the yellow pills? Maybe I should wait to take a pregnancy test.

Missed period on seasonique
I'm confused on mine. I just started taking it 4 weeks ago and I'm not on my period just yet. My period comes like clockwork. I haven't been taking it for that long for it to already skip my period. What's going on?

Missed period... packet insert says to contact dr...
To Megatron:

If you just started taking it 4 weeks ago, then you are not scheduled to have you period yet. With this bc, you theoretically are supposed to have your period every 12 weeks (or 84 days on the pill, 7 days on your period with the yellow pills).

To everyone else who missed their period:

I am on the 7th day of my 4th month. I missed my first scheduled period, too. I see that almost everyone on here took pregnancy tests that were negative. Have any updates???? I just read today that LoSeasonique can cause birth defects and that if you miss your period to contact your dr. Now I am worried because I am technically 14 days late as of 2/7/2010. I am heading to the store to get a pregnancy test.

Also, I had very light sporadic spotting throughout December.

Pregnancy on seasonique (period is AWOL)
Ok so now i am stressed! i normally have spot bleeding about half way threw the third month of my cycle, and like normal i did this time. I had cramps and just light bleeding but my husband and i still had sex because i didnt figure i should worry. we have always had unprotected sex because i am allergic to every kind of condom known to man kind. I have been on seasonique for over 4 years now i believe and i am truely worried i may be pregnant, as i am on my 3rd yellow pill and no period. i wouldn't mind having a baby but my financial situation and husband are soooo not ready. PLEASE someone tell me what you think i should do. i dont want to go get a pregnancy test because i dont want to cause false alarm.. but still! on a side note i am no longer having cramps..... is that a bad sign? and if anyoen does respond to this please shed some light for me... if i do go out and get a pregnancy test how soon is too soon to get a good reading? last time we had sex was a week ago... so i guess it would be ok to go ahead and take one... but if you know the answer to that give me a heads up! thanks!

I''ve been on seasonique for two years since having my son, and on seasonale for several years prior to that. When I first started seasonique, I got regular periods with the yellow pills and occasionally had spotting in-between. For the last year or so, I have not had any periods... none whatsoever. My doctor is not concerned, nor is my endocrinologist. Obviously, I''m not pregnant or I''d be three months past due date!

Seasonique and Late Concerns
Horsegirl, None at all? That was probably so stressful..especially without having adequate information (other than your doctor) to consult.
I''m having the same issue.. I''ve been on birth control for a little over 5 years and seasonique for a little over one year. I started my yellow pill yesterday and haven''t had anything either. I normally spot at least a week before the yellow pills start and the first few days are typically no lighter than the rest of the week. I don''t have cramps, but my migraines are still kicking. I haven''t spotted the entire pack like I normally do, so I''m a little nervous. To the women who are starting seasonique and are a little worried about it''s not so comforting habits, I had some consistency issues when I first started the pill..the first pack, it came REALLY early. The second one it came a few days early, but I spotted for a few weeks before. The third pack was better, seemed normal. Spotted about 2 or three days before and then got a normal cycle as scheduled. It wasn''t until this pack I''ve been really worried. Inconsistency when starting Seasonique is almost always a side effect. I wouldn''t be too worried if this is your first pack... if you start noticing other signs of pregnancy though (discolored discharge, weight gain, breast sensitivity, etc.) definitely talk with your doctor. For the other women who are experiencing this, could you keep the thread updated about your experience??

This is all slightly comforting, I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one this is happening too, but I'm still bothered. I switched from Seasonale, to Seasonique three months ago, I just finished the yellow pills on Saturday, and didn't get a period, so I started a new pack Sunday. I did a pregnancy test (supposedly the best out there) on Thursday of last week (during the yellows) and it was negative. I am wondering if it was a false negative, or if my period just skipped this time. Could that small dosage of estrogen in Seasonique keep my period from happening? On seasonale I got my period regularly during the placebo pills (always the first day of the placebo, but they had no hormones in them), so I'm wondering if maybe having any estrogen at all has kept it from happening this time. Not gonna lie, as I write this I'm getting a little more freaked out.

I am missing my period to. I was switched from Ortho Novum to LoSeasonique 3 mths ago. I am taking it for migraine/hormone imbalance control. All problems went away but day 4 now of inactive pill and no period. Will call dr tomorrow to report it missing and see what is said. Will update whatever is told to me to you all. I am glad I am not the only one freaking out about this. I hated the idea of a 3 mth pill but listened to the dr. I haven't seen anything in the drug facts info about this except to call dr. They should inform women of this to make a more informed decision if they want to take it :/

Just wanted to update everyone....I got my period today on day 5 of inactive pill. I would suggest waiting til the last day of inactive pills before calling the dr. It might just be bodies are taking time to adjust to a new pill. I can't tell you how relieved I am!

I have been on seasonique for 2 3/4 years and had light periods for almost 2 years and then I had no period at all. My gyn said not to worry. Next cycle, no period again. The next cycle was extremely heavy (as if my body was "spring cleaning"). Next cycle, again no period. I am getting frustrated...This time, I feel like something isn't right. I have gained an entire size, my abdomen is distended, I'm tired and achy... feels like pregnancy, but the hpt is negative. I may consider calling MD, just to ease my mind. Seasonique may not be the best OC because of this flaw, but it helps tremendously with managing my hormonal migraines. What to do???

Seasonique, no peirod just spotting
Well like most I'm freaking out, I've been on seasonique for a little over a year, (I'm acutally switch back to one month packs, this was my last pack) I Usually get my period on wed and thur of the last week. I also don't take the reminder pills. I have gotten my period yet (it's now saturday) I just have brownish spotting when I wipe. (which I've always had the brown spotting with seasonique) but I have gotten the real period yet and i'm freaking out. Took the HPT and come up negative, but I'm still freaking out. I see some say their doctor said it's normal to skip a period but just somes weird after being on the pill for about 8 years now and this is first time I've just had spotting. I'm supposed to start my new pack tomorrow. Wondering if I should....

I have been on seasonique for a little more than a year but 3 months ago switched to loseasonique. On seasonique I would get my period without fail on the second day of the yellow pills. I just finished the first pack of the loseasonique and am about to take my last yellow pill. I STILL do not have my period. Not even the littlest bit of spotting. I'm so scared I could be pregnant. Has anyone gone this long without getting it? Any feedback?
