Q: Missed period on birth control

I have been on birth control for 4 months now and this month I took two pills late (about 9 hours late) in the middle of the month, I also decided to start my placebos two days early because I wanted my period then rather than later. I didn't get my period at all while I wasn't taking any pills. I am suppose to start retaking my pills tonight, my question is what are the chances that I will still get my period or do you think it will wait until next month. I am not sexually active so pregnancy is not an issue.

You haven't taken the pills as prescribed so there is no way to know when your next period will come.

Messing with your pill schedule will result in a change in bleeding patterns, as you altered your pattern of hormone intake. It is impossible to predict when or even if you will experience your next withdrawal bleed; some people never even get their periods. You may have some light spotting, but it may take a little while for your body to get back on track.

Please also note that taking a pill late would not have any effect on this. For the combined pill, you could take it up to 12 hours late without decreasing your protection at all. With the progestin-only pill, you can take it up to 3 hours late. So 2 hours would not effect this at all.
