Nuva Ring. I've been taking nuva ring for about a year. Last month I left it in for four weeks instead of taking it out on week 4. I removed it when i realized that i was supposed to the week prior. I did have a period. Then I inserted another nuva ring...2 days before i was supposed to remove it I noticed some blood around it. No big deal. But, when I did remove it I never had a period. Now, I have been experiencing breast tenderness, fatigue...some pregnancy symptoms. I have taken 3 pregnacy tests. All are negative. I am just wondering whats going on. I think that maybe my body is confused because of the mishap last month. But, just don't know. Any thoughts or advice? Thanks
Welcome to the forum and I am glad to help you out. To confirm the status of pregnancy, I would suggest you to get your serum HCG levels estimated since this is more specific than urine for pregnancy tests. The HCG (it is a hormone) levels rise only in pregnancy and its presence will confirm the status of your pregnancy. If pregnancy is ruled out, then other causes of delayed periods need to be looked into. It can happen because of hormonal imbalance, increased stress, eating disorder, increased smoking, alcohol or caffeine use and medical conditions like PCOS, fibroid, polyps and endometriosis.
So my suggestion would be to consult a gynecologist and get serum HCG levels done. Confirmation can be done by an ultrasound uterus. Not only it clears the status of pregnancy but also can help in diagnosing medical conditions causing delayed periods.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
