I've been on tri-cyclen-lo for about 15 months now. This month in the first week I missed a pill and continued on taking one a day without noticing, when I did notice I knew for sure that it had been at least 2 days since I'd missed it and couldn't remember exactly which day I'd forgotten to take, I took two pills the night I realized I was a day behind. A few days after that I forgot another one and took it about 14 hours late and then in the third week I missed another one and took it about 12 hours late. My boyfriend and I started using backup birth control as soon as I realized I'd missed 2, we hadn't really seen each other between missing the first and missing the second so there were no worries there.

The reason I've missed so many is just because I've been crazy busy with midterms at university and then moving into a new house, I don't usually forget to take any (although I have once or twice in the past). What I'm wondering is do we need to continue using backup birth control and if so for how long? The information that comes with the pill says to use it for 7 days but since I've missed so many this month does that mean we should continue to do so for longer?
