Im 19 years old and just starting birth control. Im on my first pack and missed one pill. I followed instructions on what to do when a pill is missed. I started bleeding when I missed the pill and it has been over a week and it hasnt stopped. The bleeding has been heavy, not the heaviest I've had but still forcing me to change tampons more often then I'd like. Is this normal for someone just starting birth control?

Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum,
The bleeding that you experience could be the withdrawal bleeding. Continue to take the birth control pills at the scheduled time daily. Wait and watch for your withdrawal bleeding/periods when you finish with the pill pack. Start the next pill pack at the scheduled time as instructed. If the bleeding/spotting persists even through your second pill pack, you should consider visiting your doctor/gynecologist for further evaluation to look the underlying cause for the bleeding that you describe. Treatment as appropriate would be started (based on examination and investigations results) to help you control the bleeding and regulate your periods. Be in regular monitoring and follow-up with your treating doctor/gynecologist and report any new/abnormal symptoms immediately. Drink plenty of water. Take adequate rest. Maintain healthy diet and lifestyle.
Take care.
