to be honest, if youre going to have a miscarriage, there is nothing you can do about it. when a miscarriage happens early on (this is what my doc told me after i had a miscarriage) its because the baby wouldnt have survived outside the womb anyway because of chromosomal defects in the embryo and whatnot.
also, there is no connection between miscarriage and what # pregnancy it is for you. my first pregnancy went smoothly, i miscarried during my 2nd, and am now successfully pregnant again. it all depends on how the cells came together and if they are forming properly... or the health of the mother.
things you should avoid though... any over-the-counter medicine except for tylenol (no sinus pills, cough medicine, asprin, ibuprofen, etc). make sure youre taking your prenatal vitamin. avoid stress, heavy lifting, toxins, activities that could cause you to fall or hurt your abdomen, etc.
be comforted to know, that in a few weeks when you have your ultrasound and they see/hear a heartbeat, your chances for miscarriage drop to about 3%!
try to relax and think happy thoughts. good luck =) and congrats!
