Q: Miscarriage and HCG Levels

I went for an ultrasound 4/4/2009, was supposed to be 7 wks 6 days. On the ultrasound I was measuring 5 wks 6 days. Then I went for an ultrasound at 11 wks 4/29/2009. There was no baby only a sac. I started spotting the next day. I started really bleeding after continuous heavy spotting 5/4/2009. Went for a HCG quant count 5/6/2009 and it was over 10,000. Should I be worried. Since I've been bleeding for 8 days now should I get a D & C? I saw no baby on the screen why would HCG's be so high?

HCG level can remain high for up to weeks after a miscarriage. I'm sorry for your loss.

Thank you for responding. I have an appt at 2:45 to discuss it, but I always like to see what others and other doctors have to say.

I have 3 beautiful children, but this is my 2nd miscarriage in a row. Had one at 5 wks Nov 21, 2008
