Q: Mirena IUC not working ?

2 years ago I had a Mirena IUC put in and nothing has been normal since. It seems like I almost constantly have a yeast infection or bacterial vaginosis, and my periods are crazy (random, no real cycle) at best. While the bleeding is lighter, it lasts for 3 weeks at a time, and it is always dark brown instead of the traditional reds I was used to. In addition to the random brown mess, I end up cramping so severely that I live in bed and need muscle relaxers to function even a little. Extreme cramping has always been an issue for me, but it got dramatically better with the first year of the Mirena and only recently has gone back to unbearable pain.
I ended up having to change dr's when I moved a while ago and my new dr discovered that my progesterone levels are low or sometimes almost nonexistent. We have no idea what may be causing this. I've tried various other forms of birth control and always run into problems. The big issue is that I can't have anything with a form of estrogen in it due to a major migraine problem, so I'm extremely limited with what I can try.
To top it off, I'm allergic to latex, so condoms that won't kill me are extremely expensive. Luckily, my insurance company paid for the Mirena. However, I'm losing my insurance at the end of the month and have no idea when I'll be able to afford a new plan.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? An IUC was the last option for me, and I wish it would just go back to working a bit more like every dr says it should.
