Q: Mirena insertion pain

I am 24 yrs old and a virgin. I have PCOS (periods approx 3-9 months apart) and can not take the 'pill' and therefore am booked in to have a Mirena inserted in a few weeks. I will be under a general anesthetic for the insertion as I am also having a laparoscopy. My question is, will I experience bad pain when having the Mirena checked after insertion (1 month later) or during removal (if required) as I am a virgin? As I have been advised insertion would be extremely painful if I was not under, I am concerned about check up & removal being the same?
