Minimal PTB

Hi,

I have just been diagnosed with Minimal Pulmonary Tuberculosis, as my doctor say it. Is there a difference with having PTB as minimal? I just started taking Fixcom 4 today for 2 months plus some vitamin. I was advised to stay at home for 2 weeks. I have also read that after a few weeks of medication, i will no longer be contagious, is that true?

minimal PTB
hi munchkin00, my husband also got this minimal PTB just this may 2010. You're now on your what month of treatment? My husband is taking Myrin-P Forte, and this end of July is his 2nd month. Do you also experience sometimes expelling a greenish-grayish phlegm? now I'm a bit worried because he got a mild cough for 5 days already. this week is his 2nd chest xray and medical check-up at St.Luka's. Hope you're doing fine.

Hello!
My husband was rushed to the hospital due to intense pain at the left side along the top edge of the breast radiating to below the armpit. the pain was so intense he had to be given doses of morphine which were not of much help. He suffered the pain for 7 days. Chest Ct scan showed bronchiectasis or damage to the lung wall. chest X-ray and sputum test were negative for TB but he was given Myrin Forte. he had never lost appetite; on the contrary, he was progressively gaining weight. Consulted another lung specialist at the Lungs Center for 2nd opinion but medicine was merely changed to Fixcom 3 then 4. He took Myrin for 11 days, Fixcom 3 for 12 days and Fixcom 4 for 2 days now. He complains of memory gap. He has a hard time recalling words to say. Is this a side effect of the med? Is my husband contagious? The dr told us there was no need to separate his utensils.

Hi mavz15!

I am having medications for my inactive PTB.. My doctor said that as long as I am not showing any signs or symptoms of an active TB, it is contagious.. I just have to take my medicines and never ever miss taking it cause the bacteria might be resistant to those drugs. You just have to watch your health and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Consult your doctor whenever you are noticing unusual things that you feel. Hope these help.. God bless!

Hi evelhein,

Recently I was suspected with PTB due to my Chest X-ray. Then, I went to a pulmonologist and have a sputum test but the result was negative. I was given by the pulmonologist a medical certificate for a fit-to-work. But when the company doctor checks me up, I was told to have PPD Test and later on the result was positive, a 10mm measurement. Then, the doctor told me that I should have my medications. I take isonaizid and refampicin. I just want to ask what medicines you are taking now? I take my medications for almost 1 and one half month now.

minimal PTB
hi. i've been diagnosed with the same illness. the doctor said I am not contagious but I need to be cured. now taking fixcom 4, 4 tabs 30 mins before breakfast every day at same time. and vitamin B complex to prevent numbness of the body. the doctor prepared me to expect the side effects of the drug like frequent headaches, color blindness, increase in uric acid, numbness and reddish urine. somehow the i am glad of one side effect of fixcom 4, pimples on my face and back suddenly gone away. i have fair skin now unlike before. the doctor said it was because of the antibacterial ingredients of the drug. I am happy while taking it. I knew it is for the best. but I want to ask if there is any chance that I missed out taking the drug for a day, will the medication be back on day 1 (one)? I mean we need six months medication right? I'm on my 1 month now and if I missed will I start again my counting to day 1?
