I hurt my lower back ( L5 ) 8-7-2008 and ever since the pain is so bad I can't stand it at times. Pain killers mask it for about 20 min. Had EMG and MRI done and they are telling me I have mild nerve damage. Is mild any different then severe or a pinched nerve? Low back chronic pain, burning in the butt, pain going to my right leg (THIGH AREA ) and into the heel area along to the big toe. Pins and needles in both legs, walking with a cane because of weakness in my legs. I could go on. But remember they say it is only mild nerve damage. They put me on pain pills, depression pills, tension pills, sleeping pills, and they want me to go back to work full duty. I do maintenance at a campgroung rv resort which is basically construction if you know what I mean? I can barely walk to the bathroom let alone working. Laying down is the only time I can get little releif. Does anyone have any ideas? I need your input.

I don't know who your docs are but they don't sound very good, are they related to the company you work for, if so then they are possibly advocates for your company, and not really concerned about your health.

Mild nerve damage is not a very specific diagnosis can you get copies of your MRI and take them to a good doctor. It sounds as if you may need more than pain pills from the symptoms you describe. Sometimes its the patients who have to do the leg work to get the proper attention from the right medical people in order for there health complaint to improve.
