Q: Mild dysplashia

I am 38 and just found out I have mild dysplashia and they want to set up an appt. to freeze it. I have read you can't have intercourse for at least 4 weeks after. Is this true? If so, is there any procedure that can be done that won't stop me from having intercourse? or at least a shorter period of time. You see I am in my prime and so is my fiancee' and we have sex every day. I don't want this to effect our lives.

What they are going to do is freeze off the dysplasia, or the bad cells, from your cervix. That will leave a wound that can very easily get infected. You will not be able to have sex, wear a tampon, or insert anything inside your vagina without running the risk of infection. It is for your own health and safety that these measures are taken.

Freezing is the least invasive of the procedures that is done for dysplasia.
