Hi. 3 days ago a client came in from utah and we all went out for a few drinks. i happened to drink too much and ended up vomiting that night. since that day i have dull slight pain in my upper right stomach to the right of my sternum and occasionally on the left of my sternum. it comes and goes. it almost seems as if their is air trapped in my sternum area and it seems i have been belching often throughout the day. it seems like it is temporarily relieved from belching but comes back on and off all day? should i be worried? i dont have medical insurance at the moment. the pain is not severe it sometimes feels like more of a discomfort. any answers would be greatly appreciated.

Extremely eHealthy
Alcohol excess can be followed by an attack of pancreatitis, especially if you have history of alcohol consumption.
The acute pancreatitis (inflamed pancreas) can be manifested with sever upper abdominal pain more on the right side that can radiate to the back, or without pain at all.
Nausea and vomiting are other symptoms.
Belching is sign of food indigestion and this can be also related to pancreatitis.
If this is your problem, you should be fine in a week with pain subsiding gradually, and you should eat low fat food and avoid alcohol completely.
Another possible scenario is gastritis or inflammation, irritation or erosion of stomach lining due to alcohol consumption.
Belching usually either does not relieve the pain due to gastritis or relieves it only briefly.

Best wishes!

thanks
So..an update. Each day the pain, gas and bloating feeling has lessened. I believe the answer above is right on track with whats going on in my body. The pain was mostly in the upper center abdomen and felt almost like gas yet radiated to the right and left side. I thought maybe through the course of vomiting that i may have strained my stomach muscles or somehow damaged/ruptured something inside my stomach! I have anxiety and tend to be a worry wart but its better now. Thanks
