I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer: ILC/Stage I/NO/MX. About 2 years ago, I had problems with Metrorrhagia, for which I was told it was a hormonal issue and was given two options for treatment: uterine ablation or IUD. I chose the latter. I am wondering if there could be any connection between my current diagnosis of BC and the Metrorrhagia. Since I am estrogen and progesterin positive (HER2 negative)for the BC, I'm concerned. I was on progesterin for a short time to attempt to regulate my periods before going the IUD route.

It is impossible to say if your brief period of exposure to a progestational drug played any role in the development of your breast cancer, but the best answer is, "probably not." Also, I think that it is unlikely that your menometrorrhagia is somehow directly responsible for your breast cancer. (The majority of breast cancers are positive for estrogen receptors, by the way.) Most women who develop breast cancer have no other apparent risk factors other than gender and age.
