Current medical status: i had a culture done on an open blister and the results came back positive.. my blister was never painful and i didnt even know it was there. i do know that just because my blister was not painful and im not having every symptom does not mean i dont have it...but my question was can herpes be mistaken for another std or bacterial infection..because before i was diagnosed with herpes it was said to be just a bacterial infection but no culture was done just a vaginal exam...
Current medical treatment: my tonsils in my throat were extremely infected and and swollen. i had all over body aches, fever, headaches, later came discharge..
A culture test taken from an open blister is a very precise method for diagnosing a Herpes simplex virus (HSV-1 and 2) infection. Isolation of the virus in the blister is absolute proof that someone is infected with HSV. Isolation of the virus by cultivating it (culture test) or detecting the viral DNA by using PCR-technique is a very precise method and can’t be mismatched with another virus and especially not with any bacterium.
