Q: methanol and it's metabolites

Alright. Here's the thing. I'm a 5'11", 225 lb. male. A month ago today I accidentally ingested approximatly 10ml of 80% methanol. Someone had it in a sprite bottle and it just so happens I was drinking sprite that day and mistaked it for my bottle of pop. I contacted Poison control and the guy told me that if that is all that I thought I ingested that I should just watch myself over the next 24-48 hours. So I did, and luckily it didn't effect me. I consider myself extremely lucky that I'm not blind or dead from that incident. But here's my question, I understand that methanol is turned into formaldehyde by the liver and then to formic acid. Some have told me that the human body cannot rid itself of formic acid and others have told me that it does leave the body through exhaling carbon monoxide and by urination very slowly. Which of these is true? I assume that if it does leave the body that most if not all of it is out of my system now being this happened a month ago. I need expert advise on this. I'm tired of being told two different things.

Thank You,
-Brian
