Q: metformin and pregnancy ?

i am on metformin to help with my poly,but i have heard that to take metformin will harm a newly conceived baby! is this true? or does anyone have or know anything else?
I am not currently pregnant,but we are sort of hoping that we will be soon! (we arent trying,trying but it would be great if we fell preg)

Any ideas would be welcome,thanks for looking!
