Hi,
I've had some problems with the tendons in my right foot. My doctor says that I've got metatarsalgia and has referred me to a specialist.
I'm double jointed in the hips/legs. I can twist my left leg, so that the left side of my left foot is flat to the floor. Although I don't have that kind of movement in my right leg. I also walk with my left foot turning outwards more than the right. Sometimes if I stand up for a long time, I have a dull ache in my left hip. I am also flat footed in both feet, but more so in the left foot. Could this have caused my tendon problems?

Metatarsalgia is created by extra stress on the metatarsals — the long bones located in the front part of your feet just below your toes. It's fairly common in athletes. Ice and rest can often relieve symptoms. Have you tried this yet?

The primary causes of Metatarsalgia include the shape of your foot (bunions, high arch, tight shoes), excessive weight and intense training. Are you athletic or overweight?

Proper footwear (shock-absorbing insoles or arch supports) may be all you need to prevent or minimize future problems. Do you have special footwear? You might want to ask the podiatrist about these options. When's your appointment?
