What is the mesothelioma ?
Mesothelioma is form of cancer in which malignant cells are found in the meseothelium (a membrane that covers and protects most of the internal organs of the body). It is almost always caused by previous exposure to asbestos. In this disease cells of mesothelium become abnormal and divide without control. They can damage nearby tissues and organs. Malignant (cancerous) cells can also metastasize from their original site to the other parts of the body. The most common site which is affected by malignant cells is the pleura (outer lining of the lungs and the internal chest wall), but it may also occur in peritoneum, heart, and pericardium or tunica vaginalis.
