My monthly cycles range from 27-30 days. My average cycle length is 28 days. My menstrual period length is 5 days.
I had a tubal ligation in 1998. I am 28 years old. I am not on any form of birth control (other than the tubal ligation). I do not do drugs. I've been married for 5 years and we have never used condoms.
My last menstrual period was on October 24th, 2011. Counting 28-30 days from my last menstrual period, my next expected period date should have been November 19, 20 or 21st. I started a semi-heavy bleeding with two small clots on Monday, November 21st. I never get cramps but on this day I had very uncomfortable cramping. On Tuesday November 22nd and 23rd, it was nothing but spotting and then on Thursday it was gone. The spotting was pink, not brown.
To those who are set in believing that tubal ligation's are 100% effective, please do not post an answer. The U.S. Collaborative Review of Sterilization (CREST) found the failure rate for tubal ligation (all occlusion methods) to be 1.85% after 10 years. There is no birth control method that is 100% accurate in preventing pregnancy, not even the pill. And what God wills, no one can prevent.
I have never missed a period. In this case, I didn't miss my period because it came on time but it wasn't my full 5 day length and it was semi-heavy bleeding for one day and spotting for two days.
I took a pregnancy test two days ago and it came back negative. I have another EPT test but I have decided to wait and see if I get my period next month anywhere between December 19th - 20th before testing again.
I wasn't under any stress in the month of November, as I know that stress can prevent a period. Even if I was under a little stress, it still came on time but not as usual.
Honestly, I don't know what to think. When do you believe I should test? Is there any other reason you may think as to why I got my period for only one day and then spotting for the last two days? And of course, the most important question...Do you think there is a possibility of me being pregnant?
I know I have not received a response to my question, but I have new information that I think may be helpful in getting my question answered.
I took a PT on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 and it came out negative. When I went to throw it away the next day, I noticed a faint positive line. I researched it and some say it's either an evaporation line, which it doesn't seem to be considering it was the same color as the rest of the lines, or it took longer than the allotted time to absorb the HCG level. I took another test today (different brand from previous test), Saturday, December 3, 2011 and almost immediately a faint positive appeared.
I'm at a lost for words and I don't know what to think. I have one test left and have decided to wait until Friday (12/9) to take it in hopes that if I am pregnant, my HCG levels should be high enough to give me a BFP.
IF I am pregnant, I know that the possibility of a tubal pregnancy is likely, although my hopes lean towards a normal pregnancy.
I still don't know what to think. Any comments are welcomed.
