I do not think you are having menstrual pain if it is not close to your cycle. Have you been to a doctor? You may have endometriosis which causes cramping, menstrual like pain. Sorry you are having this pain!

Ovulation??
I get crampy pain when I am ovulating.
For me this is just a few days after my period, as my period lasts anywhere between 10-20 days, but probably a week or so after your period if you have a "normal" cycle. On average, it is about 14 days before your next period.
I know I am ovulating by the pain, and the changes in my mucous secretions.
Hope this helps.
