Q: Menstrual cycle delays
asked by: DoctorQuestion on September 18th, 2009
Hi,
I had my last period on the 21/08/09 and since have had sex 3 times. I'm usually on the dot of my menstrual cycle. Usually I get tummy bloating, lower abdominal pain, irratation a day or two before my actual period. My period was due 17th of this month but never got it and I have been having abdominal cramps for the past 2-3 days and more on my right lower side similar to period cramps. I did a pregnancy test on the 17th nite but it showed negative. I have been getting yellowish discharge but to spotting and I'm not constipated. Could I be pregnant or is ot too early to say about these symptoms? We are trying for a child.

A menstrual cycle can delay by 7-10 days once in a while for no reason. Since you were expecting the period on the 17th, you should wait for 48 hours and repeat the pregnancy test if the periods do not come.

Since you have "abdominal cramps for the past 2-3 days and more on my right lower side similar to period cramps" there is a chance that you may have your periods. If the periods do not come after 7 days and you do a pregnancy test again, whatever be the result may be, you might want to consult a gynecologist.
Hope this helps. Take care!
