A little background info. I am 38 years old, I haven't been sexually active in 2 years so there is no way I am pregnant. About 6 months ago, my periods have started to be very strange. They will start, last a few hours, then stop. For the past 3 months now, after the hours-long bleeding, what feels like my ovaries and or uterus will swell so badly that walking is hard, and it also blocks my bowels. It is painful on my bottom to sit in some positions .This last about a day and a half.

I have been to an ob/gyn, they did a blood hormone test, and checked my thyroid, everything came back within normal ranges. They did not do an ultrasound. ( I get the feeling they don't like my HMO) Still, I feel like something is wrong. I am in the process of finding another ob/gyn, to get a second opinion. I was wondering if anyone has idea of what this might be? Or am I getting worried over nothing? Thank you, any response is appreciated.

Have you found out what's wrong?
I started to have start stop periods since last year when i turned 42.
The periods would be bleed once a day, stop whole day, cycle repeats for the whole month.

This cycle, my periods came a week early, i only bled heavy a few hours on the 1st day, then stop whole day, next day midnight start heavy with clots,, then stopped in the morning,, then till now 4th day, some spotting when wiped.
But im having bad lower back cramps after periods?? and i never have periods like this so short.
But i have multiple fibroids, did you check for tat?

I actually did find out what happened, I had a problem with my cervix that caused it to completely close up. My ob/gyn had to do a dilation and curettage, and things are better now. I hope this helps.

What cause the cervix to close up?
Well, after my 2 days of spotting,, i had bad cramps, tats bcos my period resumed again yesterday,, not too heavy, but more constant, it doesnt soil my pad much , only when i go pee, the blood would be pushed out.

Next week, a D&C has been scheduled,, really not looking forward to it,, but it's supposed to rule out cancer,, my doc said cos of my bleeding pattern n age 43, he just want to be safe.. yucks!
