for three months I did not have a period, just some pink in discharge just a few times. Then I started at the end of Sept...only stopped for a few days then started again and still have it. I have had a few times of cramping and did pass clots one time. I went to my doctor and she put me on 10 days of medroxyprogesterone. So now the bleeding is much less... and no bleeding for about 24 hours. Should the meds stop the bleeding all together? If it doesn't, does that mean there is something seriously wrong? All my lab work came back normal....I'm 51, had abnormal pap several years ago(hpv) had colopscopy(sp?). When my peroid stopped for the three months, my breasts were very tender/sore...then since the bleeding...gone! No real "hot flashes"....just warm sometimes. My last pap in Feb was normal. I'm scheduled for an ultrasound tomorrow,,, and I'm scared to death....
Do I have anything to worry about.

Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum.
Bleeding with cramps and clots along with past history of abnormal PAP smear and colposcopy test could indicate issues with cervix and pelvic inflammatory disease. Another possibility of sudden bleeding and getting controlled by Medroxyprogesterone could also suggest possibility of DUB and issues with abnormal uterine bleeding.
The ultrasound scan along with examination and hormonal tests will help to nail down the exact cause for the symptoms. Based on the investigation results, appropriate treatment can be started at the earliest.
Take care.
