I have always been irreular. I had no period for 6 months (Oct - Apr). In April, I got my period... and it never left. This Sunday will be 9 weeks of a daily regular flow. My OBGYN tried Megestrol with no results and then BC pills. 10 days ago, he said it didn't look like I was producing new blood and told me to finish out the BC pack and tough it out - that it will stop on it's own. He also gave me iron pills. The problem is that I AM producing new blood every day, I'm sore, and my cramps have gotten unbearable. I don't know what to do now and I'm worried about producing and losing so much blood. Should I be concerned? What should I do?

i dont like your doctor! are you able to go some where else.
i had menstrual problems for over a year, and it took three doctors to figure out whats wrong with me.
i was spotting for weeks, found out i had a cyst on my ovary.
then i started to bleed heavy with large clots. the doctor sent me to different places to rule out cancer, fibroid tumors, etc.
they didnt find anything so they told me i have dysfunctional uterine bleeding.
so my gyn conducted surgery called hysteroscopy and d&c. he said the lining of my uterus was thick so they had to scrape it (d&c). and they put a camera up my uterus to see if i have anything (low grade infection).
they dont know why i was bleeding, so he put me on depot shot and i bleed for 1 1/2 months.
i had bad side effects from the depo shot, so i got off of it and i got back on the birth control without telling my doctors and that stopped my bleeding. i dont have a PHD. and this process was hell.

Thanks for your help. I am actually going for the hysteroscopy and d&c on Monday morning. At least now I know one thing it "could" be. You gave me more info than the doctor so far.

i was really scared about the surgery but they put you to sleep, and then you wake up it's all over. they didnt find anything but they said because i was bleeding so much the lining of my uterus was really think and that's why they did the d&c.
problem is i m on birth control pills to control my bleeding. i really dont know what will happen when i get off of it.
i did gain a lot of weight in a short time. this can cause my bleeding problem. i m glad its over b/c my love life was suffering.
good luck
