Hi. I am 34 years old and I am having vaginal bleeding. I have had my regular normal cycle periods every month, but this month after my normal period about 3 days later I started spotting. Well a couple days after that it was a heavy bleeding, this has been going on for 2 weeks now. I am having lost of big clots and tenderness of the breast(very tender). My mom went through her change at the age of 24, so is it possible that I am experiencing the early stages of menopause? If this is possible what can I take to control the bleeding?? Thank you very much!!

To confirm or rule out menopause you'll need to have blood work done.

You mom went through menopause at the young age of 24? Wow...

It's very possible your cycles are starting to change due to the onset of perimenopause. During my onset I was having extremely heavy periods with huge clots which I had never had before. Then I started developing fibroids and my OB/GYN recommended uterine ablation therapy....it has been wonderful! It's the next best thing short of a hysterectomy. An easy procedure, your uterus and ovaries do not come out and the best thing no more periods!!!!!! On the other hand, if you are planning to have children and/or want more children then of course you cannot get the ablation therapy but otherwise I'd talk to my doctor about it. It's safe, effective, and not a major surgery like a hysterectomy!

no no no, no more kids for me. I had a tubal about 10 years ago. I just can't handle all the cramping and stuff. I went to the er and the doctor there told my it it was just a dysfunctional period.. (for 2 weeks) I just find that hard to believe.

I would not suggest a uterine ablation if there is a family history of uterine cancer as by having an ablation could disguise cancer unless it was advanced.

And not all ablations are 100% in eliminating your period. Success rate is approximately 75%...

Mine has been almost 3 years and for the last several months my periods have come back...not as bad but they are back...

I would make an appointment with an OB-GYN...They would be able to tell you more on this...Doctors in the emergency room really are not knowledgeable enough to answer questions like this without more facts...Even then, it is not their speciality...It could be Endometriosis with the large clotting...I would definitely have it checked out by a specialist...
