I am 49 and starting to miss periods. It feels as if I am pregnant a lot of the time but having checked know that I am not. I often get slight cramping in my uterus and wake in the mornings feeling nauseus. My breasts are tender and enlarged. It all seems likely I am entering the menopause but I am surprised how like pregnancy symptoms it is. Is it like this for others? Cc

Hello,
Thanks for joining me on ehealthforum.
You are in the perimenopausal age. Your symptoms could suggest pre-menopause. Discuss your symptoms with your doctor/gynecologist and make sure that the cramps and nausea are not due to any other underlying cause.
Take care.

same thing happen to me feel like I am pg but not
I just got test because I had spotted and had all the symptoms also. I thinking that I am going crazy.... why don't the OB do any checking beside the blood test. It would be helpful so people would understand why the feel like they do. I was trying to push a preg out at my age 48 with little chinse help. They thought that I was pg also.

Prenancy like symptoms at age 48
THANK GOD! I thought I was going crazy as well. I am 48 and have already missed two periods. My breast have been very sore for awhile now, I have continual abdominal cramping, am bloated, and feel sick (and irritable) if I go too long without eating. I went in for my normal yearly GYN appointment last week and requested a pregnancy test. The assistant forgot to administer the pregnancy test initially and after the Doctor questioned why I was still waiting in the sitting area following my exam, she informed me that the test was negative. When my symptoms continued, I began to believe the assistant might have just informed me that the test was negative, to prevent getting in trouble, but never really completed the test. I am going to call my Doctor back tomorrow and will also get a test from the drug store, just to be sure. However, your comments have at least provided a viable reason why I am having these symptoms. The last thing I need is a baby at 49 (oh my!). THANKS!!

Pregnancy Symptoms at age 48
Curious to know what you ladies found out. I'm experiencing pregnancy symptoms, but pg tests I took came back negative. Dr is convinced that these are menopausal symptoms, but in my gut I'm still concerned that it's pregnancy. I'm almost 49.

I'm glad I"m not alone with these feelings. I had tubal ligation 7 years ago. For the first time I missed my period this month. I"m 46. I have been in a panic all weekend waiting for pregnancy test results. I've done 2 HPT and those were negative. I got a blood test on Friday and should have the results tomorrow. This is not a good feeling at all.

I am experiencing many of the same things. I had my last period in December. I had been semi-regular with my cycles, not like clockwork but they would come every 3-5 wks. But since January, no period. I didn't really worry since my husband had a vasectomy 6 yrs ago. I started having really intense hot flashes for a couple of weeks in February, but then the hot flashes stopped. So now it's the end of March and still no period. I didn't worry until I started having that "drooly" feeling in my mouth that I experienced with both of my pregnancies. Lately I have started feeling kind of nauseous but I have been under a lot of stress and both of m kids have been sick so I don't know what to make of it all. I took 2 home pregnancy tests and they were negative.

My husband had a vasectomy 6 yrs ago. He went for the initial followup and no sperm detected in test. Then I found out about 2 yrs ago that he had never gone back for the second test, I made him go and the test indicated no sperm. So as of two year ago we were safe. It sounds like his V. was pretty thorough but I having been reading all kinds of stories on the internet about pregnancies following failed vasectomies. I have an appointment with my OB/GYN next Tuesday but this is only Thursday and I feel like I'm going out of my mind. I don't want to be pregnant at 50. I don't want to be an elderly person with a teenager.

Pregnant at 57?
These are very helpful, but I think I have the topper. I have not had a period for over two years, have only one ovary (due to surgery last year), am almost 57 and rare intercource encounters. I have the pregnancy syptoms going... so tired, not feeling well, sore breats. I took on over the counter test and it looked positive. Took three more over the last two days - all were negative. Going to the doctor today... hoping it is a hormonal thing!
