Yes the anxiety can be causing problems. When there is a high level of emotionality the forebrain - where cognition occurs - gets static and we have semantic retrieval problems (word recall), short-term memory issues; difficulty focusing and maintaining attention and so on. We have a process in our brain called executive function and this monitoring and regulating process can be interfered with when there is excessive stress, anxiety, even depression.
I am pleased with your sleeping, eating and non-drug taking activity. This helps a lot.
So it is not unlikely that you are having these difficulties. If they persist, though, and you feel they are NOT a result of feeling stressed, consult your physician.
So the job you have at ahdn is to find out what has triggered teh GAD.
