Hello everyone,
To begin, I would like to wish all of you a very nice holiday weekend. And, if I could, just another wish that you take a moment to remember the men and women who died defending your country.
On this Memorial Day in America, we remember that our honored military dead are not just a group of soldiers without faces, but those who died defending our young country in every war it has fought.
Politics do not matter on Memorial Day, because we are not asked to explain an unpopular war or criticize the leaders who have prolonged it. This is a day for remembering fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we have the right to criticize our own government.
We all know that freedom is far from free, but we rarely remember the fallen men and women not here to enjoy it. As a people, we are very busy and fighting our daily battles on many fronts. As the poet says, "the world is too much with us." But, we do set aside Memorial Day as an opportunity to recognize and thank all the veterans who gave their lives.
No lectures about your patriotic duties, just take a moment to honor these heroes in your own way. They gave that last measure of devotion for all of you and they deserve the same from a grateful nation. Fly a flag, put a flower on a grave, attend a parade or just say a silent prayer.
