Unfortunately there is no medication to cure schizophrenia. It is treated to help alleviate the symptoms but the disorder is still there. There are some studies that have shown that some people have schizophrenia due to exposure to a neuro toxin. Toxoplasmosis is a parasitic infection that is usually contracted through exposure to cat feces, ie cleaning a litter box. Some of the studies suggest that a woman may have been exposed to the parasite without any outward symptoms of infection. The parasite remains latent until pregnant and then affected the fetus. The effect of the parasite is schizophrenia. I suspect there are other microbes that may be responsible for schizophrenia and other mental illnesses. Until more research is done we won't know.
