Definitely not normal. I am 55 yrs old and have not had my periods since I was 50. I am single but unable to find a good relationship with anyone due to this ongoing problem. It looks like I am not interested at all when approached by this wonderful man I have in my life. Desperately looking for answers. Was given Prometrium/Progesterone 100mg and Estrogel 0.06% to help the problem due to menopause-hormone replacement. Side effect was maybe spotting but would go away right away or at least not stick with me for months to come. For me, I am having my periods every 2 weeks for 7 days at a time since I am on the product. What am I to do? What would you do? Am I doing something wrong? Should I be taking some other kind of medication? I feel trapped in my own body. Either I live with no feelings or I accept having my periods every 2 weeks. Thank you for your help.

Hi there, thank you for posting your question. My answer is not intended as a substitute to visiting your own doctor but I hope I can be of some little help.

Can you say if your sexual dysfunction is one of not having any libido or desire in the first place? Or is the problem one of having desire alright but not being able to respond not being able to get aroused or wet.

If your problem is one of Sexual Arousal Defect or SAD syndrome then HRT may help but it has to be of a strength not to allow all the nasty breakthrough bleeding that you have been experiencing. This needs to be teased out more and will take a little time to do. It is not that difficult and you are very fixable. So don't give up.
