my father is recovering from alchoholism and the doctors put him on alot of medication. I am curious if anyone knows if it is helpful or just prolonging his recovery. he is being give topomax and remeron and he acts as if he is all drugged out, not remembering, obsessing, and just acting like he is high. Does anyone have experince with this that can lend some advice.
thanks

topiramate = reduces heavy drinking days AND increases the number of sober days in study subjects. Medications like topiramate to modulate the dopamine system in order to eliminate recurrence of alcohol use.

I'm sorry that you're witnessing such a difficult time, and are also feeling the consequences of his behavior. I'd suggest that you speak with his doctor about your concerns. Your feedback is important!
