I have narrowed it down to what I believe would be 3 possible causes.
I started to take 3 meds all around the same time.

1. Papaya (Papain) Enzyme
2. Fiber (Psyllium)
3. Rogaine Foam (Minoxidil 5%)

I've read all three can cause allergic reactions. So far its been over a week since I stopped the Papaya Enzyme completely. Symptoms persist. I'm on a strong antihistemine XZAL that works well to supress the itchy bumps....but after 11 or 12 hours they pop up full strength until I take the medicine again. I want to locate and eliminate the cause. I stopped taking the Psyllium Fiber a day or two ago...and hoping this will eliviate the problem. If not, I'll have to try to eliminate the Rogaine for a while.

Anyone ever have this problem with ANY of these substances? It started with hives on my forearms and then progressed to my trunk, thighs, and butt. They look like little pimples and itch like HELL. With the XZAL they go down to little red marks and don't itch...but when it wears off they're back up as a bump and itching like crazy.

BTW - I have no allergic symptoms on my scalp whatsoever from the Rogaine. It's just on my body.

thanks but...
you could post the possible side effects for ANY of the 3 things I posted.

All of which include itching and hives. That's why I'm looking for specific knowledge or experience with one of the 3 that is exactly the same as I have.

Papaya/Papain Side Affects - Breathing problems or tightness in your throat or chest, Chest pain, Skin hives, rash, or itchy or swollen skin

Rogaine Side Effects - Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); chest pain; dizziness; fainting; fast heartbeat; redness or irritation of the scalp; sudden, unexplained weight gain; swelling of the hands or feet; unwanted facial hair growth.

Psyllium Side Effects - an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives); chest pain; difficulty in swallowing; rectal bleeding; or severe abdominal pain, nausea or vomiting.

The reason why I am saying it is Rogaine is because the first two are natural substances and aren't as potentially harmful as the chemicals in Rogaine. If you think you are severely allergic to anything that you are not life-dependent upon and aren't speaking to a doctor about it, the best thing to do is to stop taking it immediately.

I can't tell you what to do and I am only giving you the best advice I can based on your information and my research. You can try taking each of them separately on a trial run. Or you could just stop taking the Rogaine immediately like I said. It's really up to you.

hoping its the Psyllium
theres LOTS of natural things that people are allergic to. most common allergies are due to pollen...which is 100% natural.

I'm really hoping its the Psyllium since theres other products that don't contain the Psyllium. The Dr recommended Benefiber or Citrucel to try next.

So far its been 12hrs since I took my XZAL and usually I wouldve been breaking out by now I think. I plan on on watching it for the next couple of days. If it subsides, I'll introduce the Psyllium once or twice more to see if I can induce it and then I'll know for sure.

If it starts back up today (god forbid)...then I'll give it another day and if it still doesnt clear, I'll illiminate the Rogaine to check that.

I honestly was hoping someone would read my post and say:
"I HAD THE EXACT SAME REACTION WITH ___________"

Then I'd have someone to compare it to and what their results were/are.
But I do appreciate the help.
