Q: Medical treatment for teens ?

I was just curious if anyone had problems getting to the doctors early in pregnancy. I was just researching on the laws in my state, and any minor can consent to medical care without parental consent. Anyone who is a teen that had any problems with this, what did you do?

have you not been to a doctor yet?
I went with my sister inlaw to see a walk in clinic doctor to find out if i was for sure pregnant, then i found my own doctor with the help of my sister inlaw too.

Yep. and they had a little trouble finding the heartbeat. Im going back this week. I was just curious, because they tried to tell me they couldnt do medical care because I was a minor, but the laws in my state require them to do prenatal care for me, with or without my parents permission. I dont live with my parents, thats why there were issues at first.

do your parents know your pregnant?
how far along are you?
and how old are you?
maybe your age was why they said what they did because they are concerned for you?

Hi Marie, If the law says they have to provide you with prenatal care, they can't deny you. If they do deny you care and something happens to you or your baby they will be liable. If I were you I would print out a copy of the law and bring it with you to the doctor appt. I can't believe they would not care for a pregnant woman at 17 without parent consent. Like any parent wouldn't consent? When will you turn 18? I sure hope everything is ok with your baby. Have you been taking prenatal vitamins?? That is very important and you can buy them at any health food store.
