Q: Medical Abortion story

So a few weeks ago I found out I was pregnant (first time). I'm 24, solid relationship, but not ready for a child anytime soon. So I decided to have a medical abortion as I wanted it to be as 'natural' as it possibly could be without having to drive two hours to the nearest city to have surgery.
The doctor I went to was fantastic...really knowledgable and was great to have her. I was only 6 weeks and 3 days, so we decided to go ahead with the medical abortion.
I received the methotrexate shot, then she gave me the misoprostol tablets to take 72 hours later. I didn't really have any side-effects from the shot. I did feel sick to my stomach for the 4 days, but I had been feeling sick for the past couple of weeks.
I took the tablets 4 days later, 4 of them, and waited. Two hours went by and nothing. Then the cramps started...but they weren't too bad. They hurt just as much as a bad period day, but the tylenol 3 the doctor gave me helped. I passed a few smaller clots, but the bleeding wasn't heavy at all. The cramps stopped 4 hours later. The bleeding continued but it was light. I knew at that point nothing had probably happened. I had to repeat the process the following night with another set of 4 tablets. But I didn't have any reaction to them what-so-ever.
I had a follow up ultrasound 3 days later, and it turns out the fetus was still there.
So I was prescriped more misoprostol. I took 4 tablets that same night, and the cramps were horrible! Even more horrible than the first time I took it. I passed what appeared to be the placenta..small, grainy, off red/brown colour. I knew at that point the tablets were working. I then passed what I believed to be the fetus. I'm not sure what it looks like since I had never done this before, but it didn't look like any regular blood clots or tissue.
I took another 4 tablets the next day, and again, they had no affect. But I did continue bleeding. A week has gone by since then and I'm still bleeding pretty consistently, light-medium at times. I've passed some pretty big blood clots and tissue...pretty disgusting, but I know its expected. I'm waiting for my final ultrasound (hopefully) to confirm everything is gone.

I would recommend the process for someone if they had the time and patience to deal with it. The process for me has taken two weeks and I did need to take time off of work. But I'm glad I didn't go in for the surgery...its just not my thing. This way did feel a lot more natural and I felt more comfortable being able to complete to the process at home.

jenna420840 - god has nothing to do with this as I don't believe in this "god" you speak of. my decision had nothing to do with religion.

I made this post over a year ago. I haven't regretted the decision and have been doing wonderful ever since. The guy I was with - him and I are now engaged and travelling the world.

I think this woman made her own decision and that anyone who brings their 'god' into it is wrong to do so. We all have our own reasons for doing things in life, we can regret these or celebrate these but it is infinately our own choice. People should not judge others.
